We use grades to provide information so you can help your children learn and master content. Mastery-based grading says that by tracking a student’s performance by objective, we can see where growth is still needed. Students can be provided additional instruction and practice, giving them the opportunity to improve their grade. The goal is not to give grades that have not been earned, but to focus on students’ learning and mastering of content so they can be successful as they move through school and beyond.
Informal grades (worth 40%) are given for classwork, activities, and jots.
Formal grades (worth 60%) are given for projects, tests, and unit assessments. Students scoring below a 79 on a formal assessment will have the opportunity to work with the teacher to review the material and then take another assessment, with a maximum score of 79.
The following grading scale is used:
90-100 A-Excellent Performance
80-89 B-Very Good Performance
70-79 C-Satisfactory Performance
60-69 D-Low Performance
Below 60 F-Unsatisfactory Performance
Please contact the school office if you need information about logging on to Powerschool to view your child's grades.
